How to survive school

School can be an emotional roller coaster full of stress, happiness, and drama. Although it may seem like a lot to handle, you can succeed by following these guidelines I have realized throughout the years.

Take good notes in class. Write the date on each page of notes and write the subject or section you are learning or studying. Keep all of your notes for the specific class in the same place so they are easy to find and refer back to.  Any thing the teacher may repeat or stress is extremely important so make sure you write it down and put a star by it, cause it may be helpful or on the test.

Use good test taking skills and be prepared. The night before a big test get good sleep, eat a good healthy dinner, and study. That morning make sure to eat breakfast and wear an outfit that is comfortable.  I have friends that will make sure they sleep in and they will wear sweats to school as well as not worrying about their hair and makeup. I can see how it make a big difference. Never ever ever say "I'm gonna fail this test." "I don't know any of this." "I am awful at tests/biology/English/science/math/ect." Be confident! Go in with a good attitude and trust yourself.  When you get the actual test take a deep breath, smile, and realize that you can do hard things. Read each question slowly.  You wont want to read the question wrong and answer it incorrectly. After you finish the test you might just want to sit back and relax, but take that extra time you have at the end to review your answers and double check to make sure you marked the correct bubble or filled in the blank correctly. I promise that it will help improve your test scores.

Drama can cause you a ton of stress. Friends, couples, and families can break up because of it but it can be avoided if you follow a couple simple rules. When your best friend tells you a secret, keep it safe and untold. Don't spread any news or gossip you hear. Not a word! Smile and be nice to everyone, you will gain more friends that way.

Do your homework. Try hard as you do your homework and be free from distractions  Limit listening to music or watching a movie while studying or writing an essay. With math homework, write the problem out completely  work down the page in pencil in good handwriting, show ALL work, and box all final answers so they are easy to spot or identify.

Stay organised! Use a planner or calender to write down everything you need to do for school, when the due date is, and estimated time the assignment will take. Plan when you are going to work on each assignment and stick to that plan. Always do the hardest longest things first. Get them out of the way! Cross things off your to-do list when you finish them, it feels so good!

Always have a back-up plan! Whenever I write an essay I print to copies and put them in two different places so that if I forget one, or one gets ruined, I have an extra one to save my grade. When I have power points or word documents to transfer to a computer for a project I put a copy on a flash drive and another I email to myself. If I forget my flash drive then I won't have a panic attack.

School can be hard to juggle sometimes but if you take it a step at a time and follow some of these guidelines you can be successful! good luck :)
